The history of the department
The history of the department is closely connected with the history of the formation and development of our university. It was opened as one of the first in 1966 and began to work in the following team: Dedikova B. V. – Head of the department, Kononets L.F. – senior teacher of German and Avanesova T. A. – senior teacher of English.
At the beginning of its formation, the department served two faculties: philological and mathematical.
Some years later, new faculties were opened and for each new faculty, teachers developed appropriate educational material: selected texts by specialty; compiled methodological developments for both full-time and later for part-time departments; prepared work programs, etc.
In 1967, the teachers of the department took entrance exams to the newly opened Department of English, and later to the Faculty of Philology.
The department of German Language was opened at the Faculty of Foreign Languages in 1976 and until 1979 our teachers served the students of this department. The department of German was organized in 1979.
Due to the increasing enrollment of students, it was decided to open the department of foreign languages, whose teachers would teach classes at non-linguistic faculties. From September 1983 to October 1996, the department was headed by senior lecturer Mukhametkhuzina N.F.
From October 1996 to September 2011, the head of the department was a senior lecturer Nyagu S.V.
From September 2011 to May 2016, the department was headed by senior lecturer Musralina A.S.
In May 2016, the department was disbanded. Teachers were sent to the departments of various faculties in order to realize a program of multilingual education.
On February 1, 2022, the department was formed again and renamed to the Department of “World Languages”
Personnel potential of the structural unit consists of 17 senior teachers, 14 teachers.
